Der erste Höhepunkt ist dann erreicht, wenn man durch die verschiedenen Etagen, die mit Licht, Glass und Stahlelementen futuristisch wirken, seinen Platz erreicht hat. Nicht aber, ohne zuvor auf der Rolltreppe noch die Leuchtwerbung dieser Residency bewundert zu haben.

Für dieses Wochenende (Donnerstag, Samstag und Sonntag) scheint es schwieriger zu sein, noch Tickets Last Minute zu erwerben, was daran liegt, dass Montag in den USA der Columbus Day gefeiert wird und viele Besucher frei haben.

Vor der Show brachte der kurzweilige DJ Pauli in seiner Trabant-Imitation das Publikum auf Betriebstemperatur, was aber gar nicht notwendig gewesen wäre aufgrund der allgemein herrschenden Vorfreude. Spätestens bei Bon Jovis "Living on a Prayer" und "Satisfaction" von den Stones wurde eifrig mitgesungen.

Nach dem Lemon Intro kamen Bono, Edge, Adam & Bram aus verschiedenen Richtungen auf die Bühne und erstmalig entfaltete sich der riesige Screen, der sich einmal komplett von der Bühne über den geamten Zuschauerbereich zieht, einfach nur atemberaubend. 

Bei Zoostation beginnt der Visual mit durchbrechendem Licht in einer langsam zerbroeckelnden Wand, einfach nur spektakulär. Es erinnert ein wenig an die letzte Szene von Quentin Tarantinos Film "From Dusk til Dawn", wenn Licht in den Titty Twister einfällt. 

Der Sound ist so klar, dass sich auch die Ohren genussvoll in den Takten der Musik bewegen könnten.

Der Band ist anzumerken, dass der Druck vom Eröffnungswochende abgefallen ist, und gerade Bono wirkte deutlich gelöster. Mit The Fly und Even Better Than The Real Thing folgten unmittelbar Highlights dieser Show.

Beim Snippet von Love Me Tender hat sich Bono dermaßen versungen, dass es zum Ende abrupt abgebrochen werden musste. Bono zeigte viel Sebstironie und nutzte die Chance, Eddie Vedder von Pearl Jam im Publikum zu begrüßen, nicht ohne ihn als seinen persönlichen Elvis zu betiteln. Ebenfalls im Publikum war Edges Bruder, Dick Evans. 

Vor dem Ende des ersten Teils von Achtung Baby bekam erstmals auch Bram van den Berg das Mikrofon in die Hand. Er wurde von Bono als Larrys "Student sent to earth" bezeichnet. Bram nutze die Chance und sagte, dass es eine grosse Ehre für ihn sei, hier spielen und für Larry einsprigen zu können. Seine Worte klangen aufrichtig, autentisch und demütig, er bedankte sich auch bei den Fans für die Unterstützung, die im widerfahren sei und betonte, dass all dies nicht selbstverständlich, sondern "A Big Deal!" sei. Allem in allem macht Bram eine hervorrangende Figur, in dem er nicht eine Kopie Larrys zu sein versucht, sondern seinen eigenen Stil spielt. Im GA-Bereich war auch eine niederländische Flagge zu sehen, auf der Brams Name stand. Er wirkte ebenfalls deutlich gelöster als am vorangegangenem Wochenende.

Bei Until The End Of The World war erstmalig ein beeindruckender 3D Sound zu hören, der erste Block wurde erneut mit Tryin" To Throw Your Arms Around The World beendet. Bei diesem Song wurde ein Fan aus dem Publikum, Brigitte aus Frankreich, auf die Bühne geholt, die dann mit dem Ballon über die Bühne schweben durfte.

Es folgte auch diesmal der Rattle And Hum Block, der praktisch wie sonstige B-Stage Blöcke, praktisch ohne Visuals umgesetzt wurde. Bei All I want Is You sang das Publikum erstmals hörbar mit. Nach dem ruhigen Love Rescue Me begann dann der zweite Achtung Baby Block. Besonders bei Ultraviolet war die Halle mit den pulsierenden Lichteinwürfen über den Screen taghell.

Der letzte Block begann mit Elevation und Bono im weissem Elvis-Jacket. Bei diesem Song war lediglich die Bühne war als Turntable beleuchtet, der Screen dunkel. Bei Atomic City gab es dann wieder 3D Soundeffekte und die Skyline von Las Vegas erschien auf dem Screen. Nach und nach entwickelte sie sich in die Urspungswüste zurück. In der Sphere könnte man meinen, dass man in diesem Moment irgendwo real vor den Toren Las Vega stünde.Das gleiche Gefühl ereilt einen auch bei den letzten Songs Where The Streets Have No Name sowie With Or Without You. Edge hatte hier erneut Probleme mit der Gitarre und brauchte ein Ersatzinstrument. 

Abgerundet wurde der Abend mit Beautiful Day und atemberaubendem 3D Audioeffekten, so dass man die Halle nach gut zwei Stunden immer noch mit einem ungläubigen Staunen sowie herzerwämender Bewunderung verlassen konnte. Owohl der Screen natürlich die Hauptattraktion der Location ist, kann festgehalten werden, dass U2 dieser ihren Stempel aufgedrückt haben, die Show an vielen Stellen sehr intim wirkt und die Musik eine entscheidende Rolle beim Besuch dieser außergewöhnlichen Residency spielt.

Our U2tour staffer Kay visited the third show in Las Vegas and describes his impressions from the Sphere below.

The temperatures in Las Vegas have dropped compared to last weekend and are "only" in the low 30s, but as soon as you got close to the "edge-cutting" venue, you got hot again! The queues in front of the hall are still very long, as all visitors have to pass through the same entrance on the tracks, but it felt like it was quick and orderly under the circumstances. The time is also shortened by the fact that snippets of Zoo Station and Ultraviolet, for example, are played outside the hall.

The first highlight is reached when you reach your place through the various floors, which look futuristic with light, glass and steel elements, but not before admiring the illuminated advertising of this residency on the escalator.

For this weekend (Thursday, Saturday and Sunday) it seems to be more difficult to buy last-minute tickets, which is due to the fact that Monday is Columbus Day in the USA and many visitors have the day off.

Before the show, the entertaining DJ Pauli brought the audience to operating temperature with his Trabant imitation, but this would not have been necessary due to the generally prevailing anticipation. At the latest, Bon Jovi's "Living on a Prayer" and "Satisfaction" by the Stones were eagerly sung along.

After the Lemon intro, Bono, Edge, Adam & Bram came on stage from different directions and for the first time, the huge screen unfolded, stretching once completely from the stage over the entire audience area, just breathtaking.
At Zoo Station the visual starts with light breaking through a slowly crumbling wall, just spectacular. It reminds a bit of the last scene of Quentin Tarantino's film "From Dusk til Dawn" when light enters the Titty Twister.

The sound is so clear that even the ears could move with pleasure to the beats of the music.
It is noticeable to the band that the pressure from the opening weekend has fallen off, and Bono in particular seemed much more relaxed. Highlights of this show immediately followed with The Fly and Even Better Than The Real Thing.

During the snippet of Love Me Tender, Bono sang so badly that it had to be abruptly stopped at the end. Bono showed a lot of selfirony and took the chance to welcome Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam in the audience, not without calling him his personal Elvis. Also in the audience was Edge's brother, Dick Evans.

Before the end of the first part of Achtung Baby, Bram van den Berg also got his hands on the microphone for the first time. He was called Larry's "student sent to earth" by Bono. Bram took the chance and said that it was a great honour for him to be able to play here and stand in for Larry. His words sounded sincere, authentic and humble, he also thanked the fans for the support he had received and stressed that all this was not a matter of course but "A Big Deal! All in all, Bram is doing a great job not trying to be a copy of Larry, but playing his own style. In the GA area there was also a Dutch flag with Bram's name on it. He also seemed much more relaxed than the previous weekend.

An impressive 3D sound was heard for the first time during Until The End Of The World, and the first block was again ended with Tryin' To Throw Your Arms Around The World. During this song, a fan from the audience, Brigitte from France, was picked out of the crowd to come on on stage, and was then allowed to float over the stage with the balloon.

This was followed by the Rattle And Hum block, which was practically implemented like other B-Stage blocks, practically without visuals. With All I want Is You, the audience sang along audibly for the first time. After the quiet Love Rescue Me, the second Achtung Baby block began. Especially with Ultraviolet, the hall was as bright as day with the pulsating light casts across the screen.

The last block started with Elevation and Bono in a white Elvis jacket. For this song, only the stage was illuminated as a turntable, the screen was dark. With Atomic City there were 3D sound effects again and the skyline of Las Vegas appeared on the screen. Gradually it evolved back into the original desert. In the Sphere you could think that you were standing somewhere real in front of the gates of Las Vega at that moment. The same feeling comes over you with the last songs Where The Streets Have No Name and With Or Without You. Edge had problems with his guitar again and needed a replacement instrument.

The evening was rounded off with Beautiful Day and breathtaking 3D audio effects, so that after a good two hours you could still leave the hall in disbelief and heart-warming admiration. Although the screen is of course the main attraction of the venue, it can be said that U2 have left their mark on it, the show feels very intimate in many places and the music plays a decisive role in the visit to this extraordinary residency.
