Adam Yauch (Beastie Boys): "The New Yorkers Against Violence concert was done in direct response to the events of September 11th. Like so many other people the world over, we felt an overwhelming need to help...". (Danke an MJ!) Weitere Infos und Bestellmöglichkeiten:

"The New Yorkers Against Violence concert was done in direct response to the events of September 11th. Like so many other people the world over, we felt an overwhelming need to help. When we decided to do the concert, we felt strongly that it should serve two functions: to raise money for victims, and to put forward ideas about nonviolence. We began to contact other artist and quickly found that many felt just as we did." - Adam Yauch Profits raised by the New Yorkers Against Violence concerts were donated to two organizations; New York Association for New Americans and New York Women's Foundation. Both organizations helped to distribute funds to those who may have slipped through the cracks of broader aid efforts. The first organization, New York Association for New Americans (NYANA) www.nyana.org helped recent immigrants rebuild their lives. The second organization, New York Women's Foundation (September 11th Fund) www.nywf.org focused on providing support to low-income women. We would like to thank David Raccuglia for putting together this book documenting the "New Yorkers Against Violence" concert, and his generous contributions to: The New York Association for New Americans, The New York Women's Foundation (September 11th Fund) and The Milarepa Fund. Beastie Boys and The Milarepa Fund would also like to thank all the artists, speakers and other people who gave so much of their time and energy to make the "New Yorkers Against Violence" concert a reality. And finally, thanks to all the people who came to the show and donated to the cause. All proceeds from the sale of this book will go toward the Milarepa Fund's efforts to spread values of nonviolence, and to assist in their active support of the Tibetan peoples non-violent struggle to regain independence.
