"U2 Live from Boston" - Even better than the real thing

Auf den Seiten von Hotpress gibt es einen sehr interessanten Artikel samt Interview von Ned O'Hanlon (Dreamchaser) über die Veröffentlichung der "U2 Live from Boston" DVD/VHS. Hier ein Auszug aus diesem Gespräch zwischen John Walshe und Ned O'Hanlon: "It turned out better than we could have expected [...] This was more of a challenge than either of the other concerts [...] There was nowhere to hide: no big lemon, no big screens, no toys to play with. But we got a great performance and I think it is the best thing we have done. I couldn’t be more pleased with it. [...] As a band, their standards are very high: they work very hard and expect everybody around them to work just as hard - That is not to say that they are unreasonable but they are very exacting. They would never accept anything that they are not happy with: they are very apologetic about the extra work or grief that it might cause, but it has to be done. They have never let their standards drop and I admire that. "

Weiters gibt es auch von Ned O'Hanlon einen Kommentar wieso an zwei Tagen in Boston gefilmt wurde "But this is the third concert film we have shot with U2 and we knew right from the very start that we would need two nights to shoot it to make any sense out of it. You anticipate what you need to do and plan, but at some point you have to turn on the cameras and do it, and with the best laid plans, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. Fortunately, we had always planned that the second night was going to be our night and we were much more ready for it." Auch über den Unterschied zu den vergangenen Tourneen gibt Ned einen sehr ehrlichen Kommentar ab: "The whole touring thing is always a bit mad anyway. The first tour I was on was Zoo TV and that was a rollercoaster, an amazing trip. But we were all that much younger and we were all able for that kind of lifestyle where it was all a party. These days, it is not like that: everybody works so hard. They do four shows a week and that is a killer agenda: you might not be getting to your hotel until three or four in the morning and you have to get up to do a full day’s work the next day. That is a grinding schedule so days off are cherished. Any time I was out on the road this tour, I was conscious that there wasn’t that much partying going on. People tended to be more sensible about the way they relaxed. [...] On the Zoo TV tour, we worked liked dogs, but we played hard as well. It genuinely wasn’t sex, drugs and rock n’ roll. It was much more innocent than that: it was just being out late at night with a gang of people who were happy to hang out together and have a good time. It was fantastic but you can’t do that now. Everybody is 10 years older and has families now, so your whole aspect on life is different. I know that sounds really boring but it is true." Den kompletten Bericht gibt es hier zu lesen!
